Suggest Remedy For Swelling And Irritation In The Labia
Hello Can you get a chemical burn from using store brand tampons? Because I have experienced irritation and swelling in my labia and as well as the clitoris. It has caused my skin pigment to dissapear not it almost looks like I have vitaligo in my private area. After I stop using the store brand the irritation continued with the other symptoms for about two months but now I am left with almost no color and my clitoris as shrunk it seems is size. Can you explain what has happened and what can I do to solve this problem? Or tell my doctor what it could be when I see the GYN ? Darlene

Hi,
For chemical irritation from a creams or tampons, wash the area with cool water and apply a cold washcloth. Apply a 1 percent hydrocortisone ointment which is a steroid ointment to calm the redness. Keep the area moist by regularly applying a moisturiser containing aloe vera gel.
Ice covered with a cloth can also be kept for a few seconds to reduce the discomfort. Avoid using hair removal creams in sensitive areas. If the whitish discoloration continues, I would suggest you to rule out any de-pigmentation disorders or autoimmune disorders like psoriasis.
