For approximately 5 years I have suffered sporadic shooting pain in my right forearm.
The pain feels like an electric shock, beginning at the side of the wrist closest to the thumb, and radiates down inside my arm towards (but not reaching) the inner elbow.
The pain only lasts for a few seconds at a time, but it causes momentary loss of grip in my fingers and thumb, and sometimes my hand 'snaps' into a slack position.
There is no general swelling, pain or tenderness in my forearm or wrist, and the shooting pain has never occured in my other forearm.
There appears to be no direct stimulus, and the pain only occurs on average once or twice per month.
One exception to this is that if I wear clothes made of statically-charged fabric such as wool, I feel the shooting pain/shocks up and down my forearm frequently until I remove the clothing.
Any ideas? I'm assuming it's something to do with a nerve?
