Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a sore throat for many months now along with a stomach ache for the last 3 months. I have pain also on my right side/back. I have acid reflex. Sometimes it feels as though the pain is less after eating but also notice the pain more when I am lying down. Recently I have been feeling more tired. I am stressed partially because I do daycare and also have elderly parents that need help.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain sore throat due to acid reflux is a common finding in patients with acid reflux and can be treated with Proton pump inhibitours like Omeprazole, pantoprazole, H2 blockers like Ranitidine, taking antacids before meals, loosing weight if you are obese, drink plenty of water, take short frequent meals every two hours, avoid spicy and acidic foods and large meals, take your dinner atleast 2 hours before sleeping, take short walk after meals, do moderate workout atleast 5 days a week. While sleeping keep your head and chest elevated as compared to feet and recline in left lateral position.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have sore throat with acid reflux which is common after having meals due to gastroesophageal reflux disease. I would suggest you to take few preventive measures such as raise bed level on head side. Do warm saline gargles on daily basis 3- 4 times a dayI would suggest you to avoid spicy and heavy meal specially at night . Eat at least one hour before going to bet , take a light walk for 15-20 mins after every meal. Take combination of proton pump inhibitors along with antacids. Visit ENT specialist once if symptoms keeps on persisting. Go for blood tests along with that get chest x-ray done. Get ECG done as well to monitor cardiac functions. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
