Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter has a small round dot sized bruise on the inside of her upper lip. She says it doesn't hurt and hasn't bumped into anything. I have noticed it before, but it was much lighter. What is this and is it something I should seek medical attention for?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of small bruise on the upper lip is mainly due to due to reasons. Firstly it could be due to minor trauma to upper lip with the help of tooth and secondly it could be due to infection/ allergy to certain ingredient. I would suggest you to start with anti inflammatory medication topically. Analgesic such as ibuprofen will help to control pain and antibiotics to control infection. Vitamin B and C is helpful to resolve it. Drink plenty of water. Keep area rehydrated. Apply natural lip balm. Don't use lip cosmetics and corticosteroids for this. Apply ice cubes on lips. Use thick coat of petroleum jelly on lips. Your symptoms will resolve in one week. Visit dermatologist once and get it completely examined by tests such as complete hemogram if it keeps on persisting.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
