Hi..
Can understand your concern..
As per your complain if you have infected tooth which is painful the course of medicine includes Antibiotics and painkillers, where antibiotics will reduce the infection and painkillers will relieve the pain.
In case painkillers are not given it is not possible to get relief of pain as antibiotics takes a longer time till the infection is reduced to the level that pain is no longer evident..
The other thing is that in case where there is pus formation below the root tips of infected tooth and a temporary filling is done, it acts as an obstruction in the path of release of pus which leads to pressure creation and thus
severe pain.
Pain on biting indicate that the infection has reached below the root tips near the bone.
I would suggest you to continue with your antibiotics but start taking a painkiller twice a day like
Ibugesic Plus or
Diclomol or
Ketorol DT (ketorol DT helps in relieving severe pain and has to be taken by dissolving one tablet in half a glass of water).
You can also take any other painkiller which you have already taken at some time.
You can remove the temporary filling using a clean toothpick so that you get relieved of pain. You can place a piece of sterile cotton ball in the cavity.
But I would suggest you not to leave it like this for a longer time and see your
dentist soon.
The tooth needs to be treated either by
Root Canal Treatment if can be saved or extraction if cant be saved to get complete relief. Only medicine cannot cure you permanently.
Hope you get well soon..
