Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. This week i noticed that a mole on my stomach scabbed and started peeling. it was a bit irritated for a day or 2 then it peeled off clean and is now much lighter in colour. It s a bit more red in colour than it really should be. It doesn t bother me at all but i m a bit concerned.
You are suffering from a scabbed mole on the stomach. It started peeling and presently it is lighter red in color. You are instructed to keep your scab clean. Infection can slow the healing process. Gently wash your scab with mild soap and water. Be gentle, do not scrub. Keep your wound area moist. Apply a thin layer of ointment Soframycin on it to prevent itchiness and scarring. Never scratch or pick the scab as it may cause a new trauma and slow your recovery process.
Picking your scabs can also increase your risk of developing an infection, causing swelling and pain. You can apply hot and cold therapy for relief. If the scar is still fresh, visit ER, get antiseptic dressing done or cover it with a bandage to prevent further irritation and to reduce your risk of scraping it. Be careful so that you don't hurt your scab. Any trauma to the scab can slow the healing and trigger bleeding or swelling. Get clinically examined and if required get a biopsy done to rule out any malignancy.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
