Suggest Remedy For Recurring White Patch On Toenail

Have a large white spot on tip of my large toenail (just one toe). Dr said it is a fungus and prescribed Oxistat 1% cream. In the past I have used the Oxistat 1% lotion and it seemed to work. Will the cream be just as effective? Wow, it was expensive! Was told lotion not made any more.

Hi,

The cream should be just as effective as the lotion. If it is only a small white spot on the toe, then it can be treated with topical treatment (lotion / cream). However, larger areas affected by nail fungus often demand systemic (oral) treatment. I advise to use the cream for 3-4 months and then evaluate the effect. Toenails grow slowly, and the effect is therefore also seen slowly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
