Suggest Remedy For Recurring Painful Blood Clot In Fingers

I have been experiencing bursting blood vessels in my fingers over the last several years. It does not occur a lot, but I do have little nodes or bubbles of blood in at least three of my fingers at all times. Sometimes, they pop and hurt a lot when it happens. I had one pop this morning while exercising. First I had an itching sensation, then all of a sudden it started to hurt, painfully, I added ice. Once it burst if felt better, then turns black and blue and eventually goes away. Not sure what is causing this?? Thanks for any information. If I try to see the doctor, of course, it looks normal .

Hi,

You may be experiencing thrombophlebitis, which is inflammation of a vein due to a blood clot. This can occur in the fingers, and it can cause pain, swelling, and redness.

To help relieve the pain and reduce the risk of future blood clots, you can try the following remedies:
* Apply ice: Apply an ice pack to the affected area for 15-20 minutes at a time, several times a day. This can help reduce swelling and alleviate pain.
* Elevate your hand: Keep your hand elevated above your heart as much as possible to help reduce swelling and promote blood flow.
* Take pain relievers: Over-the-counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen can help alleviate pain.
* Wear compression gloves: Wearing compression gloves can help improve circulation and reduce the risk of blood clots.
* Stay hydrated: Make sure to drink plenty of fluids, as dehydration can increase the risk of blood clots.

It is important to consult with a healthcare professional if you continue to experience recurring blood clots in your fingers, as there may be an underlying medical condition that needs to be addressed.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
