I have mysterious disabling pain in my left hip/leg. For a little over a year now, I have been on and off a walker. However, I find it hard to walk or stand for very long without it affecting my right leg (which is my good hip/leg.) Lately, standing or walking on my right leg causes aching in my right hip and knee. It is unbearable to bare any weight on my left leg. Instead, I put all of my weight on my right leg when standing and when walking and having to take a step forward with my left leg, I put all of that weight in my arms to carry me forward while using my walker. Anyway, I have no idea if this will be a problem that will ever go away. If this is the case, I am concerned whether or not all of this over use of my right leg will (over the long term) cause damage to my right leg, hip and/or back. My question is then this, is this a concern? If so, what am I able to do to lesson any long term damage I may end up creating in an otherwise perfectly fine leg? Is there some other kind of walking device I can use that can minimize the amount of weight I am putting on my right leg? I am trying to avoid using a wheelchair and am afraid that this may be my only option. I tried to figure it out myself by using google but am having a hard time finding any useful information.
