Suggest Remedy For Recurring Cold And Cough In 3.5 Years Old

Dear Doctor, My daughter (31/2 yrs) is suffering from cold and cough frequently. It will generally start with a running nose, slowly move to a severe cold with thick mucus and then cough will start with chest congestion. Her doctor advised to take monticope tablet for 4 months continuously along with other medicines. Still it is reoccurring after 3-4 weeks. what I should do? Manoj, Chennai

Hi,
Thanks and welcome to healthcare magic.
Recurrent cold may be due to allergic rhinitis.
Ebastine syrup twice daily for control of allergy.
Steam inhalation, avoiding cold atmosphere and cool drinks as well as ice creams.
Zn-20 syrup twice daily
Sinarest syrup 3 times daily
Karvol applicaps along with steam inhalation.
Saline nasal drops instillation locally.
The above measures continued for 1-2 weeks will give good relief.
