Suggest Remedy For Recurrent UTIs With Constant Pain In Lower Back

Hi I am 21 year old female and have been suffering from recurrent UTIs for the past 5 years, first having started before ever having had sexual intercourse. Doctors keep prescribing me with antibiotics some of which no longer even get rid of the UTI but mask the infection leaving me with the symptoms but the infection no longer shows in my urine when tested. I suffer from pain in my back continuously, sometimes stabbing pains but usually dull aching on a daily basis. I ve tried to seek medical help and upon having an ultrasound on my kidneys scarring was found and said it would be monitored but the pain in increasingly worsening slowly over time. What advice can you give?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Kidney scarring is due to recurrent urinary tract infection (UTI).
Recurrent UTI is affecting the kidney and can lead to derangement of kidney functions latter.
The cause of recurrent UTI has to be found out.
Recurrent UTI can occur due to structural abnormalities in the urinary tract.
Thus, you need to consult an urologist to assess the urinary tract for any structural abnormalities.
A urine examination along with culture and drug sensitivity needs to be done to identify most appropriate antibiotic effective against UTI.
Lower back ache and stabbing pain can be due to pelvic inflammatory disease (PID).
PID can be one of the causes of recurrent UTI because the urinary tract and reproductive tract are close to each other.
Infection of one tract can get transmitted to the other.
A ultrasound abdomen is required to view the pelvic and abdominal organs.
Consult a gynaecologist in addition to an urologist.

Thanks and take care
