Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello,

I'm not sure you can be sure this is a muscle pull. Especially since she woke up with it, instead of watching it happen with a fall or extreme movement. However, if it has resolved, then it's fine and nothing to do. But if she is limping, complaining of pain, falling or otherwise not being able to consistently bear weight - she should see a doctor. It could be a break or an infection, or indeed "just a muscle pull."

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lisa Baker, Pediatrician
