Suggest Remedy For Preventing HSV-2 Infection From Harming Baby During Pregnancy

Hi I've recently been diagnosed with hsv-2 and I'm horrified at what my future will hold... I am a lesbian and my partner accidentally was the one who gave me the virus but she did not know she had it til recently as well. We both are trying to learn methods to reduce our outbreaks and looking at a more natural remedy that is less pricey but just as effective as antiviral medications. We are trying to learn everything we can on hsv-2 to better prepare ourselves. She currently is pregnant and is also looking for ways to prevent her unborn child from contracting this virus... Any help will be greatly appreciated in answering my questions.. Thank you

Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

Hsv 2 causes genital herpes and the best way to prevent fetal transmission during child birth would be to opt for a cesarean section delivery.

Cesarean section reduces (to 15%), but does not eliminate the risk of newborn HSV infection.

Active genital herpes during childbirth is a real threat for transmission of infection to the baby as the child passes through the birth canal; herpes virus can cause blindness and encephalitis in a new born.

The risk of infection during vaginal delivery is less during a clinically silent genital herpes infection.

Oral suppressive therapy with acyclovir during 3 rd trimester till birth is also a means of preventing the transmission of Hsv during vaginal delivery.

Regards
