Suggest Remedy For Persistent Vertigo

My dad is in his 70s, always healthy and active. All of a sudden he was is dizzy, constantly falling to his left, his left leg and arm are week and cant support him hardly, he is using a walker to move around but he still falls always left if he barely tips to that side. His doctor is trying antibiotics for possible inner ear infection and also gave him some vertigo meds too...He has been taking both since Monday and no help yet, he has fallen again and broke the skin on his nose now and he is depressed...what do you think it could be? Concerned about left side of his body feeling weak...
