Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
One side of my nose is completely plugged. I was given antibiotics yesterday but the stuffiness on that side of my nose has gotten worse. I did the netipot this evening and it would not run through to he other side of my nose. Is there anything else I can do? I a, also taking zyrteck and Flonase for allergies. I also tried affinity today but that really didn t help much.
The symptoms as mentioned in your post can be attributed to Deviated nasal septum or hypertrophy of nasal turbinates, secondary to Allergic rhinitis.
1. Zyrtec (pharmacologically Cetirizine) is used to treat allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, etc. 2. Flonase (pharmacologically Fluticasone) is a corticosteroid which tackles the inflammatory process. 3. Antibiotics are helpful to prevent any secondary bacterial attack.
So, the medications are helpful in providing temporary relief only. Unless the underlying cause is treated, the symptoms will keep recurring.
Kindly consult an ENT Specialist and get a proper clinical examination done.
Wishing you a good health. Take care.
