Hello,
You are suffering from pain in the left side of the groin near the vagina. There is no lumps, but is very itchy and red. You were working in the barn and suspect to be bitten by some insect. You are suggested to take a warm bath and clean the affected area with plain water and antibacterial soap.
Wear soft cotton clothes that are loose fitting. To reduce itching you can apply a thin layer of
hydrocortisone ointment on the affected area. Take
acetaminophen or
Combiflam, one SOS, after food to help reduce pain, inflammation and soreness. Take non sedating antihistamine, once daily for 3-5 days. Your symptoms should reduce and you should feel better. In case, the symptoms persist and you do not get any relieve then you should visit ER, get clinically examined.
You may need a course of antibiotics or
steroids and symptomatic treatment for relief. If sexually active, avoid sex and self pleasuring, le the wound heal. Do
STD tests to stay on the safer side. In case reports are positive, you will be treated with antivirals / antibiotics.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
