Suggest Remedy For Pain In Chest After Drinking Coke

I had a gulp of coke about 3 hours ago and immediately I got a really bad pain in my chest area, really really painuln and then it travelled down to my stomach for a few seconds then came back up to my chest again, not quite as bad but it came back to my chest, after about a minute it felt a lot better but I can still feel a slight pain every now and then in my chest, nothing too major and it doesn't hurt too much now but it still doesn't feel right and I'm a bit worried... Do I need to be worried and is there anything I can do to stop it?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain first of all you need not to worry as it is nothing related to heart and can be very well treated. It is happening due to acid reflux into the oesophagus which can occur many a times after drinking Carbonated drinks like coke..
The soda present in the carbonated drinks creates more pressure in the stomach as well as it is irritant to the lining of stomach, along with it the sugar present in it leads to more acid production..
All these factors increases the stomach acid production and at times the acid can regurgitate back to the oesophagus and can cause burning pain and discomfort in the chest and even in stomach..

In case of chest pain and burning the best way to avoid is to limit the intake of the carbonated drinks..
You can also take antacid like Milk of Magnesia half an hour before meals, take proton pump inhibitors like Pantoprazole or Omeprazole..
Drink plenty of water to maintain hydration and helps in dilution of acid..
Do not stay hungry and take light meals..
Avoid spicy and acidic food..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
