Suggest Remedy For Night Time Screaming By A Patient With Parkinson S

Hi doctor I am writing this for my mother who is a parkinson patient. Recently she has developed a problem that she doesnt sleep at night and keeps everyone awake. She starts yelling and screaming and keeps asking for syndopa and sleeping pills. It has become very difficult to take care of her. Is it any psychiatric problem or is parkinson.?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Some persons with parkinsons do develop dementia as well.

Dementia can lead to behavioral problems such as the shouting , aggression , confusion and insomnia that you are describing.

Her neurologist and a psychiatrist can assess her for this and also rule out other causes as well.

There are medications that would help to control her behavior.

I hope this helps
