Welcome To HCM
This is Dr Amit. I can very well understand your concern
Melasma is a patchy brown facial skin discoloration usually seen in women in the reproductive years. It typically appears on the upper cheeks, upper lip, forehead, and chin of women. It is thought to be primarily related to external sun exposure, external hormones like birth control pills, and internal hormonal changes as seen in pregnancy.
As you have not mentioned in your query regarding birth control pills or pregnancy we can not pinpoint the underlying etiology
I will advice you to stop using melacare cream, avoid sun exposure.
Melasma can fade on its own. This often happens when a trigger is causing the melasma, such as a pregnancy or birth control pills.
If not fade then you can take Hydroquinone, Tretinoin and corticosteroids under the guidance of your dermatologist
Hope i have given satisfactory answer to your question
