I have some drainage but my main issues are the feeling of a lump at the base of my throat ( no trouble swallowing) and a tightness in my chest when I try to take a deep breath. I am not short of breath just feel like I can t expand my lungs enough to get a deep breath

Hi, thanks for sharing your health concerns with HCM!
If I were your treating Doctor for this case of throat lump and tight chest, I would come up with three possibilities, these include:

1.     tuberculosis-like infection in the lungs!

2.     restrictive or interstitial lung disease

3.     infection/polys in the larynx

I suggest you to go for a chest X-ray and sputum examination and revert back to us!

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
