Hi,

When BP of a person drops while standing from a lying or sitting position, it is called orthostatic hypotension or postural hypotension. Though, tricyclic compounds like Tryptomer are very common to cause postural hypotension. However, there is no known unwanted effect of postural hypotension with use of Vertin tablet.

Therefore, in your case, if your doctor can stop this drug and may replace it with some other drug, which is not known to cause postural hypotension, it should be the best remedy. Certain home remedies like staying hydrated with adequate fluid intake. Do not stand up abruptly from lying or sitting position. Prepare the body mentally & then stand up gradually.

Do isotonic exercises before standing. It will help in increasing the BP to some extent, while standing. These exercises may be like squeezing a ball or squeezing a towel in hands before standing. Wearing waist high stockings can help improve the blood flow to brain and reduce the symptoms of hypotension. These may be worn during day time and take them off bed time, while lying down.

If these home remedies do not work then rarely some medicines can be used for increasing the blood volume and pressure. Some of these medicines are--droxidopa, erythropoiesis stimulating agents (ESA) like Procrit or Epogen, Desmopressin, Fludrocortisone, Midodrine Hydrochloride and Pyridostigmine etc.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
