I am suffering very badly from very itchy and burning skin on my back which has turned a very dark red/black. I use an aqueous cream for relief but this only helps a little and I cannot get any sleep at night. Moreover my joints are very painful. I am 86 yrs old of dark complexion, about 5 ft. 4 ins. and weigh 60 kg.
Hi. As per your case history of itching burning skin, my treatment advice is - 1. Apply a soothing lotion like calamine lotion on affected region twice. 2. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine for itching. 3. Apply a mild topical steroid cream like mometasone cream on the lesions twice daily. 4. Other treatment options are oral steroid like prednisone or betamethasone taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
