Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history related to your grandson, who has breath smell of eggs on burping, brings up undigested food, and is going on for the past 5 nights.
All these symptoms are suggestive of either
gastroparesis or
intestinal obstruction.
Due to this the passage of the food in the downward way is hindered. And since the food is hold up it is putrefied and hence the
bad breath of egg and vomiting of the undigested food.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
- Barium contrast studies of the
esophagus, stomach and intestines called as follow-through.
Upper GI endoscopy if the pediatric scopy is available.
Prokinetics as per the weight.
Avoid of all the foods that are seen in the vomit as they are not getting digested.
Further treatment may be surgical if there are signs of obstruction.
Also needed is the tests of the stool, blood and urine, rule out
juvenile diabetes.
