Suggest Remedy For Foul Odour From Anus With Itchiness After Using Triglyceride Gel

Hi, I had a surgery for anal fistula two weeks ago with a thread tied to it and my doctor prescribed be triglyceride gel to put on my anas to help with healing of the an anal fissure. One week into applying the cream, my anas smells really bad and it also itches all the time. Is the smell and itching due to the cream or am I getting an infection?

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Triglyceride gel is only a soothing agent and it does not cure fistula present in anus. It will help only to pass stools easily.

Since you are now having symptoms of foul smell and itching, it appears that the fistula might be infected. Applying cream is not the solution at this stage. You need to be examined and treated surgically by means of 'fistulotomy.'

Kindly consult surgeon in this regard for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
