Depends a lot on the overall context. Wanting help is a very strong thing. Stimulants would definitely help to have the rehab and aftercare with a 12 step program. It isn't so much whether someone has failures as the context of them. If omeone remains committed to get off of drugs and learns from each mistake and changes what one does becauase of it, then they will succeed.
With narcotics, suboxone allows someone to make as many mistakes as they need and be in a very safe situation. It blocks narcotics and if someone messes up, then not much happens from the narcotic. They could still catch something from a dirty needle.
