Suggest Remedy For Chronic Constipation In Elderly Persons

I have severe constipation? I take Livalo and Senimit., I am 87, have Parkinson s and had a stroke. I have taken Miralax and Lizness. My constipation has been a slow, steady, decline. I have been on enemas only for 8 months, and now they don t work like they used to. Thank you

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Unfortunately the continued used of laxatives can prevent the bowel from working as it should.
They should only be used on an intermittent irregular basis.

It is best to increase fiber and fluid intake.

Dietary fiber from fruits and vegetables can be increased and a fiber supplement can also be used (Eg metamucil, cetrucil, benefiber).
