hi, Im 4 months pregnant and im having chest pains, i have had the same chest pains off and on before i was pregnant they just come and go. but now i noticed more of a sharper chest pain. the last time i noticed a sharp chest pain was when i ate a low country boil but without the shrimp almost instantly i had a sharp pain from my chest go down to my stomach almost like strong stomach cramps. Hi,
I understand your concern.
I have read your query & understood your concern.I have an impression that your chest pain is most likely to be due to-
- Gastero esophageal reflux. In pregnancy the sphincters between stomach & esophagus get loose due to pregnancy hormones- the acid getting regurgitated in esophagus causes chest pain, which is neutralized after drinking water/with lapse of time.
- Anxiety/tension aggravate this problem.
- Association with asthma/cold cough lead to difficulty in breathing.
- Gas & indigestion may aggravate the symptoms.
Management is by-
- Having non spicy, light/nutritive food in small & frequent feeds ( 3-4 hourly)
- avoid immediate sleeping after food,
- sleep in a propped up position, be positive, avoid psychological stress / be confidentafter you change your eating habit, take medicines.
- Antacids, proton pump inhibitors, digestive enzymes can be taken as per doctor's advise after examining you.
- Regular walking for half hour will be beneficial.
thanks.
