Suggest Remedy For Bleeding After Lipoma Removal Surgery

Hello,

I have a large lipoma removed from by lower left side of back on October 30th. After a week I started to bleed from a small whole under the stitches. I went back to my general surgeon who said that it was old blood that was draining out. She pushed out some of the blood with her hands pressing on my back and gauzed padded me up and said I would be fine. A week later, I returned to have my stiches removed. The stitches looked healed and were removed. Steri Strips were placed, but I am still bleeding from the underneath everyday. I noticed today that I am bleeding in new spot as well.

is this normal? It has not been a month yet but I am so tired of this old blood leaking out and just want to know at what point is it not normal? what happens once the steri strips fall off and I am still leaking?

please help,

Thanks.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
hanks for your query.
This is not at all normal to have a bleeding after surgery for a lipoma.
The apparent reasons are:
The large dead-space created by the removal of the lipoma secretes blood water called Seroma, this can be blood tinged and appear as blood.
Another possibility is opening up of some of the blood vessels which otherwise should not have opened up.
I would advise:
Wait and watch possibility and the dressings should be obliterating the dead-space for the skin and the undersurface to he in contact with each other.
Please talk about this with your nurse or a Doctor and your problem will be solved/..
