General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

This means that his asthma is not well controlled and his doctor needs to adjust his medication.

In addition to changing his preventer medication/inhaler, he also needs control of the risk factors or triggers for his asthma episodes. The noisy breathing may be due to nasal congestion and this is commonly due to allergies, allergies can cause post nasal drip of mucus to the back of the throat and this worsens asthma.

He should be reviewed by a pulmonologist (lung specialist).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
