Suggest Remedies For Low Oxygen Levels At Night

My Sisters Dr. said her oxygen level goes down to 50% at night. I find this very alarming. She has done the sleep apnea several times, she has oxygen at night and has had for several months. Her levels are not improving. He said to give it another month. She also has a benign growth on half of her Thyroid but is delaying surgery until November. I think something more should be done. She is a large lady and has always had lots of energy but says she feels tired a lot. I am very worried.

Hello!
I read carefully your question and understand your concern.
Sleep apnea is a very concerning problem, leading to high risk for coronary artery disease and other health disorders if not treated properly.
I would recommend to use a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) device, which is the most common treatment for moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea. Although these devices can take some time to get used to, they are a very effective treatment.
I would also recommend a lot of physical activity and diet modifications to help her reduce her weight. This is a very important issue in dealing with sleep apnea.
She should avoid alcohol and smoking.
There are also surgical interventions which may be helpful in obstructive sleep apnea . If the thyroid gland is compressing her breathing airways the intervention will be helpful to this problem too. Hope to have been of help!
Thank you for using HCM!
Best wishes!
