Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
HI. MY HUSBAND HAS BEN TAKING PHENYTOIN SINCE 2008 AND RECENTLY HIS DOCTOR TOLD HIM THAT HIS DILANTIN LEVEL IS TOO LOW. HE HAS BEEN TAKING 2 CAPSULES THREE TIMES A DAY AND NOW THEY INCREASED IT TOO 2 CAPSULES IN THE MORNING, 2 IN THE AFTERNOON , AND 3 CAPSULES IN THE EVENING. IS THERE ANY POSSIBLE WAY OF EITHER CHANGING HIS DIET OR ANYTHING ELSE THAT WOULD HELP INSTEAD OF HIS TAKING TOO MANY MEDICATIONS THAN WHAT HE IS ON NOW?
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, if the clinical condition demands the Phenytoin then it has to be taken, it is the therapy and it is necessary, what ever the clinical condition your husband has and for which he has been given the drug with increasing dosages could be important, and it can be managed with diet or anything else hope this information helps.
