Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mom s blood pressure is 114/51 she supposed to take a nighttime blood pressure pill but I think that s low so she shouldn t take it right her blood pressures been running like 159 /65 or something in that range she got out of the nursing home a week ago and it was always running high so they added medicine to her normal amount
I will suggest you to keep on monitoring the blood pressure on daily basis. Of blood pressure remains below 140/90 it's better to keep her off medicines. Usually the effect of medicine disappears in 5 to 7 days. And also appears in 5 to 7 days. Keeping this fact in mind, her BP might come back to abnormal high levels after 5 to 7 days. Her lower blood pressure is low as compared to normal. She needs an Echocardiography to look for cause of this low diastolic(lower BP) BP.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammad Faisal Bacha, Internal Medicine Specialist
