Suggest Remedies For Chronic Cough After A C-section

My wife had a C-Section on 22nd July 2014. After the C-Section she had a blood transfusion due to loss of blood. From the very second day of C-Section, she is suffering with cough till today. We have asked our physician and he recommend an antibiotic course with some anti-allergies. CBC reort increased leukocytes with a result of 12.5. Now the bacterial infection is not exists but cough is not gone. My wife is also a patient of minor thallessemia. Can you please advise us what to do now. Thanks

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello, the most common cause of cough post pregnancy is the pooling of secretions in the lung and infection caused due to the inability of the patient to cough out the secretions due the fear of pain.Anyways the cough generally does not last for more than a week. In your case it looks more of a bronchial hyperreactivity , that means the layers of the your airway cannals have become overreactive. So i advice you to take steam inhalations first, a steroid inhaler is advisable but only after a qualified pulmonologist has advised it .
