Suggest Remedies For A Pus Filled Bump On The Abdomen Of A Child
My 10 year old son has what looks like a pretty nasty pimple on his stomach right next to his belly button. It s got a pretty big pusy looking head to it. Should I try to pop it first, then cover with a bandaid and neosporin? Or is there something else I should do?
It is not advisable to pop pimples, especially if they have pus. This is because some of the pus will be pressed inside, increasing the risk of the infection being spread. I would recommend you to apply warm compresses (watch that he does not get burned) and this will cause more blood to go in the area and the pimple heal and pop out itself. If more pimples show up or there are any concerns please see your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
