Suggest Proper Exercise Programs For Men With PPS

hello I got polio in 1942 as a 3-1/2 year old girl. I am now 79 and have cancer (multiple myeloma). My legs are getting weaker and unsteady. The polio is in my left foot (much smaller than the right one) and lower left leg (muscle was affected). I was actually very strong all my life and used the left leg very well. Now, I am very tired all the time. My left leg is at least 1/2 inch or more shorter than the right, keep my gait off all the time. I have tried lefts many times, but then my back seems to hurt. I always exercised, but because I now have had 3 compression fractures in my back (that have healed), I don t know which ones to do. I always rode my 24 speed outside bike until this year, but am afraid now of a fall. I have a recumbant bike and try to use it. But I am honestly so tired lately. I needsomeone to confirm the PPS and guide me through the proper exercise program. Thank you. Kaye Jones

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* There are various exercise programs available for your case, but unfortunately your clinical examination including muscle strength, power, reflexes are mandatory to be evaluated before thorough guidance.

Kindly consult an expert ortho surgeon, who after thorough clinical examination will refer you to a concerned physiotherapist who will take care of all your concerns and worries within his or her expertise care.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
