Suggest Precautions And Tests To Be Taken After Being Bitten By An Autistic Child

Hi, I worked with autistic children this summer in a public school. A child bit me and I think she broke my skin as there was the tinies spot of blood. Please tell me what things I need to be tested for and how long I have to wait to get tested to find out if I was infected with anything.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Human bites are dangerous because they can be infected by anaerobic bacteria.
You need to get the bite site properly dressed with antibiotic effective against anaerobic bacteria especially.
Besides a HIV testing is also required to rule out the possibility of transmission of HIV infection.
Oral antibiotic may also be required.
Consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment of the wound.
Dressing and oral antibiotic may be required.

Thanks and take care
