Suggest Pain Medication For Swollen Eye Due To Facial Infection

I went to an urgent care today and was diagnosed with an infection of my face. My right eye is swollen especially close to nose. It hurts really bad. the PA gave me cephlexin 500 mg. to take 4 times a day. She did not give me any pain meds and i can only take tylenol across the counter. Is there any other meds I can take for pain. She told me if I was not any better by Tuesday to go see my regular doctor.

Hi,

As per your complain it seems that you have developed Cellulitis that is causing you swelling on face secondary to infection and inflammation of soft tissues. The antibiotic advised to you that is Cephalexin is appropriate but taking Tylenol alone is not sufficient and you need to take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen or Naproxen along with Serratiopeptidases that will help in reducing swelling, inflammation and pain.

In case if swelling does not improve or worsen then consult a Physician and get evaluated and a steroid shot or a course of tapering dose of oral steroids can help in reducing swelling and pain. Also do cool compresses over the swelling.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
