Suggest Medications For Redness In The Eye In Infants.

My two year old had a red/pink left eye two days ago, both eyes slightly red yesterday (better), and now red in right eye today. Tried Simulsan drops yesterday. No puss just slight sometimes normal crusty eye upon waking. Do I need to take her in, or could this pass? No other cold-like symptoms.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi there,

Having red/pink left eyes is a sign of infection or allergy. If it is spring season at the place you live, red eyes are indicating that your infant is having allergy problems due to flowers pollens or dust.

I advise to:
- wash his eyes with baby shampoo diluted in warm water (1 part baby shampoo diluted in 5 parts warm water)
- use ear cotton buds to wash his eyes lids
- rinse them well with cool water
- at the end, rinse them with chamomile tea
- then, apply Simulsan drops

If no improvement, should contact his pediatrician for specific treatment.
Please bare in mind that keeping good eyes hygiene is very important.

Hope it helped!
