Suggest Medication To Cure Swollen Lips Along With Tingling Sensation

My lower lip is slightly swollen, burning, tingling, peeling and has one area where there is a small sore that won t go away. I have used various lip balms such as Carmex and blistex, I have had this condition for 2-3 weeks now with no real improvement. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Swelling of lower lip accompanied by tingling, burning and peeling could be due to herpes labialis infection. I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment. Treatment for herpes labialis is primarily anti-viral topical ointment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
