Hi I was diagnosed with tonsilitis on new years day and it is now the 13th of jan and I still have pus in my throat. I have taken about 13 days worth of cilicaine vk antibiotics and it has improved, but not as much as I am hoping for. Went back to GP today and he has given me rulide to try out once a day for the next 5 days. I work in a call centre and have been away from work a week now as it hurts to talk too much. I am getting frustrated and worried as I haven't had this for years since I was in my 20's. I am now 38 yrs old and got this but it has never lasted 2 weeks or more in the past? What should I do? Help.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that you have a lingering infection in throat and along with antibiotics you need to take other remedies to get relieved faster.. You can take a course of antibiotics as advised to you an along with it you can take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen or Naproxen.. You should do warm saline gargles atleast 3 to 4 times a day.. Do steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room.. Chew a Vitamin C pellet daily and suck throat lozenges.. Take a soft diet and avoid spicy and chilled foods..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
