Suggest Medication For Severe Tail Bone Pain Due To Injury

Hi! I am going to make a long story short and just leave this as follows. I hit my butt/tailbone on the corner of a wall and it bruised. I hit it fairly hard and over the next few days I felt pain in that area and naturally just assumed that area was bruised. However as this week progressed the pain had gotten unbearable to the point where I almost went to an ER ( Very big deal as I usually don t go anywhere near doctors offices and such due to a serious fear of needles and most things doctor-y) anyhow, just the day before yesterday I took a muscle relaxer to see if that would ease the pain but it made me drowsy so I napped. I woke up later and my whole tail area was wet so I assumed since I wasn t using the restroom as often due to the pain that I just kind of did that. Well I checked later and it was actually blood so something must have popped while I was asleep where there was swelling. (Think buttcrack area not the rectum) over the next two days the pain has significantly went down as has my swelling. I was just wondering if this might be a hematoma because my mother is convinced it s a hemorrhoid but I am almost sure hemorrhoids don t form around the lower spine / tailbone area. Thank you for reading and sorry it was lengthy.

Hi,

It seems that the injury has caused more damage to the hip bone area than just a hematoma. If it was just hematoma, it should have healed or decreased in intensity by now.

My advise to you would be to visit the Orthopedic surgeon or Emergency Room and get an x-ray done of the area. You might also need to go for CT Scan and/or MRI. If these tests do not show any injury, then possibility of Hemorrhoids can be considered.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Take care.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
