Suggest Medication For Persistent Cough In An Infant
HI, My daughter is 6 month old and having severe cough in the chest, often she cough very hard and harsh. we took her to doctor and doctor suggested following medicine, please do suggest me if these medicine are fine to give at this age... 1. Levolin Syrup 2. Monocef-o* 50 3. Omnacortil drops 4. Cozy cool oral drop (Phenylephrine Hydrochloride and Chlorpheniramine Maleate) Thanks Vivek
There can be various reasons for intensive cough in a 6-month child as acute bacterial or viral infection.
As the pediatrician has already placed the child on steroid, bronchi dilator and antibiotic syrups, further evaluation with x-ray chest and management is needed.
The best way of approach in my clinic is inhalation therapy with intravenous medications to cure the underlying infection at earliest with vigilant watch over the progress of the issue as there can be chances of hypoxia if persistent bronchi constriction stays over a period of time.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
