Suggest Medication For Pain In The Breast, Armpit And Areola

I have had increasing pain in my left breast. This is day 3 and getting worse. I have a hard vein running from near arm pit towards my areola. My areola is swollen. My upper back around sholder blade is swollen, upper arm and arm pit is swollen. The areola hurts the worse. Also, my neck on that side is a little sore but not to the touch. Should I go to ER?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms seem to be related to mastitis which is an inflammation of the breast.

I suggest using an anti inflammatory medication such as Acetaminophen to relieve the inflammation.

I also suggest using cold compresses at the area.

If the symptoms continue, I suggest to consult your doctor for prescription antibiotics.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
