Suggest Medication For Lung Infection

1 month ago I got this years flu shot at walgreens. I was in shelter with a women who had pneumonia. Soon I began to have cold symptoms, then a week into it, laryngitis. Lungs felt tight. I was in transit to my hometown and had to sleep out a few nights. Another week went by and a dime sized totally black engorged tick was swept away from my pubic area by washcloth and went down the drain. I got to where my kids live and was coughing up white (like half and half cream) out of my lungs. I went to ER room. I was told I had pneumonia and given 6 amoxicillin 500mg pills (all downed in 5 days) My blood pressure has been high for 10 years and not on medication currently. Its been hanging around 160/110. Now its been 1 month and I am still coughing...no white stuff but lots of clearing phelmy clear stuff. I was no Bullseye yet from the tick but read 50% of people don t see one. My knees and ankles (legs in general) are stiff, more than usual and I am weak and tired. Telling myself the pneumonia kicked my but. I am 62, female and the last couple of days I nearly fell over due to dizziness. Should I go back to an Emergency Room? I have no personal physician and I am on Wisconsin Poor Mans Insurance.

Hi,
If I were your treating physician I would suggest you to get a Chest Xray, routine blood count and sputum culture done to rule out pneumonia. You have been treated with empirical antibiotics for pneumonia, but antibiotic resistance is a common thing these days, hence a sputum culture and sensitivity will help to use appropriate antibiotics.

Your dizziness and fatigue should prompt you to control your hypertension.

Joint pains shall need evaluation by rheumatologist and should be treated accordingly.

Hoping that I have helped you with your query.
Wishing you good health.
Take Care.
