Suggest Medication For Cystic Acne On The Chin

About 3 months ago, I started to get horrible cystic acne on my chin. It is extremely painful and is scarring. What causes this and what can I do to help get rid of it? I have never had acne before. I am a 49 year old female and have not gone thru menopause. This acne is causing me depression and I don t leave the house unless I absolutely have to.

Hi,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of cystic acne on the chin which is the severest form of acne and occurs when dead skin and bacteria get trapped inside the pore and causing the area to become red and swollen. You should exfoliate gently once or twice a day with a salicylic acid-based exfoliant. Apply benzoyl peroxide cream or gel for killing the bacteria in the pore. Wash your face using a mild soap or cleanser and lukewarm water. If the condition doesn't improve in a week then consult a dermatologist for proper diagnosis. The doctor may prescribe oral antibiotics like clindamycin, Isotretinoin or hormone therapy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
