Suggest Dosage For Plaquenil And Finasteride

My age is 62 years old and I feel very healthy and fit by exercising. I was diagnosed with alopecia, experiencing hair loss on both sides in the front close to the hairline of the face. My dermatologist prescribed plaquenil 200 mg. twice daily and finasteride tablets 5 mg. once daily. Also, he recommended to apply Rogaine foam 5% to the frontal hair twice daily and topicort topical spray .25% twice daily along the front hairline. How long do you think that it would be necessary to stay on the plaquenil? Also how long for the other recommendations? Is there any other better option to stop the alopecia probem? Thank you for your assistance!

What medications your doctor has prescribed is proper for your underlying condition.

The response to the treatment would take about 4 to 6 months of continuous use of the prescribed medications.

Following that, generally, the medications might be continued further with reduced dose for some more time.

Stopping of medications or altering its dose depends on the response, which is decided by clinical evaluation by Dermatologist during the follow-up.
