Suggest Dosage For Coreg

I recently had one of my blood pressure prescriptions (Coreg) increased from one 12.5 milligrams in the a.m. and a 6.25 mg tab in the evening to a 25 mg tab in the morning and 1/2 25 mg tab in the evening, while adding two 20 mg. of prednisone tabs in the morning for seven days for terribly itching hives. I tried this combination yesterday and really felt dragged out for the entire day yesterday. Does that much prednisone cause a the condition described when taking with that much increase in the Coreg?

Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM

I believe that the dragging feeling you are likely to be due to fatigue.
Fatigue is a common side effect of beta blocker like Coreg. Since your dose have been doubled recently, please give at least 2 weeks to get used to the new dosage form and monitor blood pressure (or symptoms of low blood pressure like dizziness, palpitation etc) to see if it is going too low.
If the fatigue seems to be persistent after 2-3 weeks, please be advised to follow up with your treating physician to reduce the dose of Coreg or switching to another antihypertensive.

Hope this answers your question
