Suggest An Alternative Treatment For Issues Related To PEG Tube

My peg tube. In the last 3 days I have a fistula or skin coming out where hole is.. The doctor has used silver nitrate to burn the tissue inside the hole .. This has happened in the last three days.. Problem still not solved.. and the Dr. Wants me to do the silver nitrate.. This should not be put on me.. and it hurts.. What can I do ..? This keeps repeating.. and this dr does not want to fix the problem.. Very unethical..

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

So if the PEG tube hole is gaping and causing fistula, then a separate PEG tube needs to be inserted and the previous site needs to be closed. Please discuss this with your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Loveleen Sharma, General & Family Physician
