Suggest An Alternative To Socks For Sensitive Skin To Avoid Ulcers

My husband has bad legs and has to wear to wear support hose. Because he has large legs and very delicate skin, which if nicked he will get a leg ulcer, it is next to impossible to get these dumb socks on. Is there something else we can try other than these socks that would produce the same results?

Hi,

There are a few alternatives to support socks that may be helpful for people with sensitive skin who are prone to leg ulcers:
* Compression wraps: These are bandages that can be wrapped around the legs to provide compression and support. They can be adjusted to fit the individual's legs and are available in a range of sizes and strengths. Compression wraps can be more comfortable for people with sensitive skin, as they do not have a tight elastic band that can irritate the skin.
* Velcro compression sleeves: These are similar to compression socks, but have a velcro closure instead of a traditional elastic band. They are easier to put on and take off and may be less likely to irritate.
* Compression leggings: If your husband has larger legs, compression leggings may be a good alternative to socks. They provide compression to the entire leg, rather than just the foot and calf, and may be more comfortable for people with sensitive skin.

It is important to talk to your husband's doctor or a specialist in compression therapy to determine the best option for him based on his specific needs and condition. They may also be able to provide tips and techniques for putting on and taking off support hose more easily to reduce the risk of skin damage.
