Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my doctor has prescribed Mirapex for years for my restless leg and it works great, Our insurance company just changed and now I have to pay 1200.00 a month, insurance will not approve, what are my other choices that resemble Mirapex could you help me without charging me the drugs are costly enough
Mirapex is composed of 'Pramipexole', which is a dopamine agonist of the non-ergoline class. It is indicated for treating Parkinson's disease and restless legs syndrome. Mirapexin and Sifrol are other brands of the same composition. Rotigotine (Neupro) and Ropinirole (Requip) are other medications which act like the neurotransmitter dopamine in the brain. Opiates can also be used for treatment. However, since opiates are very addictive, they are usually used only when other drugs don't work. Kindly consult your doctor for clinical evaluation and appropriate dosage before you change your medication.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S,
